Stickman Battle is a physics-driven fighting game where two floppy stickmen swing whatever weapon they happen to be holding at each other until one of them goes down. The fighters are loose and wobbly, so every match is as much about controlling your own momentum as it is about hitting the other guy. Land a clean swing and your opponent goes flying; whiff it and you are the one stumbling.

The weapon list is the star of the show. You start with the basics, but the unlockable arsenal runs through katanas, hammers, axes, spears, flails, boomerangs, gauntlets, a grappling hook, a cannon arm, and sillier picks like a guitar, a harp, an ice cream cone and a banana bazooka. Each one has its own reach, weight and special skill, so a fighter with a flail plays nothing like one with a knife, and swapping weapons between rounds changes the whole match.

There are several ways to play. The main mode is a one-on-one duel against the computer, and a levels mode throws waves of enemies at you to see how many you can take down before they overwhelm you. There is also a stickman soccer variant, where the same wobbly fighters try to knock a ball into the opposing gate instead of each other.

Best of all, both the duel and the soccer mode can be played by two people on the same keyboard. One player takes the arrow keys and the other takes WASD, which makes Stickman Battle an easy pick for settling arguments with a friend during a break.

Winning matches earns gold, which you spend on new weapons and skins, and there is a leaderboard so you can see how your nickname stacks up. Fights are fast, usually over in well under a minute, so the game fits into short sessions and rewards a few rounds of practice with a clearly better feel for the physics.

How to play Stickman Battle?

Pick a mode and a weapon, then close the distance and time your swings so the heavy part of the weapon connects while your opponent is off balance. Jumping lets you swing from above and dodge low attacks, but it also leaves you helpless in the air, so do not spam it. In the levels mode, keep moving so enemies cannot surround you, and pick up any weapon or buff that drops. In soccer, aim your hits at the ball and let the physics carry it toward the gate.

Controls

Desktop: Player 1 moves with the arrow keys, Player 2 with WASD, each with up to jump. Attacks trigger as you swing into your opponent, and Space, Shift, Enter and E are used for skills and menus. On touch devices there is an on-screen joystick.
