Magic Battleground

Magic Battleground is a ragdoll fighting game where you play a wizard who is only loosely in control of his own limbs. The character is a proper physics ragdoll, built out of a head, a torso, a pelvis, two arms and two legs pinned together and thrown around by a real physics engine, so every punch, every fall and every spell that connects sends someone tumbling in a way nobody planned.

The fighting is a mix of melee and magic. You can walk up and hit someone, or you can spend your energy on the spell list, and the spell list is where the game gets its personality. There are fireballs, meteors, plasma, flame, a blade, an aura, a healing spell, a crit strike and a screen-clearing ultimate slash, and alongside those the build carries a set of frankly ridiculous ones, including a frog, a portal, a wheeled car and an elephant. They are all physics objects, so they do not just deal damage, they knock bodies across the arena.

There is more than one way to play it. A duel mode puts you in a one on one fight, and there is an endless mode that keeps feeding enemies at you until you go down, with the enemy count climbing as you survive. Both feed the same progression: you earn experience, you level up, you bank kills, and you spend what you get in a shop on new characters and abilities.

The build keeps all of that in your browser's own storage rather than behind an account, so your level, your unlocks and your health upgrades survive when you close the tab and come back. There is a stats screen and an achievement system tracking what you have done, and a leaderboard button in the menu.

It is not a subtle game and it is not trying to be. Enemies are AI, the physics does most of the comedy, and a fight usually ends with somebody's legs in a place legs do not go. The appeal is that you rarely get the same knockdown twice, because a ragdoll hit by a meteor lands differently every single time.

It is a Construct build rather than a heavy 3D engine, which means it starts fast and runs at a sensible frame rate even on a machine that struggles with anything Unity. That matters more than it sounds for a game this dependent on physics staying smooth.

How to play Magic Battleground?

Pick a character, get into the arena, and knock the other ragdolls down before they do it to you. Basic hits are cheap and always available; the spells cost energy and are what actually win fights, so watch the bar and pick your moment rather than throwing everything at once. Use the environment, because a good knockback into scenery does more than a clean hit. Take the duel if you want a straight fight, or the endless mode if you want to see how long you last as the enemy count climbs, and spend what you earn in the shop between runs.

Controls

Move with the A and D keys or the left and right arrow keys, and crouch with S or the down arrow. Jump with W or the up arrow. Attack with X, Y or Z, or with a left or right mouse click. The number keys 1 to 4 fire your equipped abilities, and shift and space are bound to the extra moves. On a touchscreen the game swaps to two on-screen joysticks with ability buttons beside them, so it is fully playable without a keyboard.

Play Magic Battleground unblocked in your browser

Magic Battleground runs straight in the browser with nothing to install and no login, and because it is a lightweight build it loads quickly on a school Chromebook and gets through most school network filtering.

  • Ragdoll Chaos is the closest thing here, the same floppy-physics comedy with the fighting built around it.

Who created Magic Battleground

Magic Battleground was made by a developer going by vessel, and it is their first published game. The build itself does not name an author anywhere, which is common for Construct exports, so the credit comes from the developer's own listing rather than from the files. What the build does show is that it was made with Construct and that its internal asset names are in Russian, which is a fair hint at where it was written.

Can I play Magic Battleground on mobile and desktop?

Both. It ships a full touch control scheme with two joysticks and on-screen buttons alongside the keyboard and mouse setup, and it is built for a landscape screen, so it works on a phone held sideways as well as on a Chromebook or laptop.
