There Is No Game is a game that spends its whole running time insisting it is not one. A narrator tells you there is nothing here to play and asks you to leave, and everything you do is a way of disobeying that — clicking things you were told not to click, dragging pieces of the interface out of place, and breaking the page to find the game hidden behind it.

The puzzles are made out of the interface itself. The title is a set of draggable letters that can be rearranged into something else. There is a trophy cup you can unscrew. Bits of the screen come away in your hand and turn out to be tools for the next problem.

It also hides an entire second game inside it — a working Breakout clone, complete with its own intro — and runs through a stretch where the whole thing glitches and contaminates itself. A goat is involved. Explaining more of it would spoil the only thing it has.

How to play There Is No Game?

Click and drag everything, including the parts of the screen that are obviously not game objects — the interface is the puzzle, and the solution is almost always something you were told not to touch. Listen to the narrator carefully, since the instruction not to do something is usually the hint that you should. When you are stuck, try taking something apart rather than looking for a new thing to use.
