Run 3 is a running game set inside a tunnel in space, and its trick is that gravity follows whatever surface you are standing on. Run onto a wall and the wall becomes the floor — the tunnel rotates around you, and the hole you were about to fall through is now something you are running along.

There is much more structure to it than the running suggests. Explore mode maps a branching route through the tunnels, Infinite mode runs forever for score, and there is a level editor built in for making your own. Cutscenes carry a surprising amount of story between the two.

The cast is the reason people stay with it. Angel, Bunny, Child, Duplicator, Gentleman, Ghost, Ice Skater, Lizard and Ninja all move differently rather than looking different — the Skater cannot stop easily, the Lizard climbs walls — and unlocking them changes which routes are viable. Crumbling and ice tiles, a currency and a long achievement list fill out the rest.

How to play Run 3?

Turn the tunnel deliberately rather than treating gaps as things to jump: stepping onto a wall to avoid a hole is the intended solution far more often than a jump is. Match the character to the route, since several passages in Explore mode are effectively impossible for one character and straightforward for another. Watch for crumbling tiles on a second pass — they are still gone from where your first attempt broke them.
