Jump Only

Jump Only takes walking out of the platformer. Your character cannot move on the ground at all; pressing left or right makes it jump that way, so every level is crossed in a chain of hops and the only decisions are direction and timing. Landings are sticky, which means a bad jump usually costs a restart rather than a stumble.

The levels are built from a small kit: bumpers that fling you, rails you slide along, elevators, spikes and sawblades in two sizes, dressed in themes such as gingerbread, snow, a factory, water and a knitted sweater. Stars are scattered through the levels and lock gates need a set number of them to open, so the collectibles are the progression. Extra character palettes unlock as you go.

How to play Jump Only?

Wait on a platform until the sawblade pattern repeats once, then go. Bumpers send you further than a jump, so use them for long gaps instead of trying to hop them. Go back for stars in early levels when a gate blocks you; they are cheaper there.

Controls

Desktop: left arrow or A to jump left, right arrow or D to jump right. That is the whole control scheme. Touch screens: tap the left or right side of the screen.

Jump Only unblocked

Jump Only runs right here in the browser with nothing to install, so it plays on school Chromebooks and other locked-down networks.
